Sandwashed silk habotai is a fine, smooth fabric that has been specially treated. Compared to ordinary habotai, which is smooth and shiny, the sandwashed variety has a velvety, matte finish and a better drape. You may wish to avoid darker shades, as the matte surface has atendency to attract dust.

Sandwashed habotai can be used as a lining for light garments (blouses, dresses, kimonos, and evening jackets) or as the main material in tops, tunics, and scarves or kerchiefs. It is also a nice fabric for silk painting.
